The idea behind ZeBOX is simple: to create one great efficient music engine on the net that is self-driven by the artists themselves, where everything is instantaneous, all artists pages automatically created, all updates instantly implemented.
In July, 1999, founder Philip Hii enlisted the help of Flash artist Nate Altschul to design the site and programmer Sveta Liberman to write the programs to power the site.
With the help and kind generosity of Mike Uesugi of GMSnet in Torrance California, the site server was built and went online in September, 1999. In the meantime, another web enthusiast and fellow musician, Mikhail Gee was enlisted to manage the site. Since then, the site has grown to over five thousand artists and counting.
Special thanks to Paul Southworth for his amazing work at reconfiguring and updating our server in March 2002. A musician himself, Paul runs several sites, among which is etext.org. Check it out for some great text archives!
Many thanks to all our artists, especially our full members, and to our visitors for your continued patronage!
