GAWDS.... RAWKING tunage man!!! I'm really getting into your sound now. Cannot stop listen to it. The Gamelon stuff...the Fretless festival...have no words.
I'm really seduced by it...i think i'll finally go unfret! Works sooo well...the various different picks...hmmm. Not to mention the harmonic possibilities.
Its a pity Kronosonic is about to be gone, but, if wasn't for it, i'd not find you, Stearns, Neilstick... great findings from 2006! For me, of course. I'm so pleased.
And, as i said before, on one of your MySpaces page, i think you're doing great job in spreading fretless style around. Almost 'teaching' it. Someday you'll get the reckoning you deserve to.
Best,

- "Today" by Dan Stearns. Leo Alves Vieira Review.

about "today" a real-time short review on the song by composer and guitar player Dan Stearns.
This one has a formal estructure with such density that i'm already listening to the 3th time in a row and only now i'm beginning to be 'confortable' with it. But, concerning the thematical choices, those are very evident in perception, and this is what gives the music its Unity.
The guitar low 'bass line' at the end is (my opinion, of course) transformed in the beginning of the track into a 'click' almost, but with the same rythimical pattern, that is also heard in "Today...", right in the end of the 'song' at the middle of it, this very same rythmic cell with 2 articulations 'going up' to-day....
It's interesting also how, the same polirythimical ideas we hear especially the percussion doing in the beginning of the track, are 'transposed' to pitched instruments with their almost-loop-like patterns, at the very last part of it.
Beautyful song! Very tender indeed.
