Wow it's been over a year since I updated

Well Hello everyone, it has been way too long, if you are even seeing this. You may have not looked for awhile.

I love this zebox thing, but I've hardly used since I started, so I need to take better advantage of it. Well I guess the most current this going on musically, is that I am playing with the Paul Stranahan Trio, which is a jazz fusion funk whatever group. We've played a few gigs, and i've basically joined an established entity because the last guitarist left for my old home of NYC. So if you are in North East Ohio I would love to see you at any gigs. I'll try to keep them updated here. I've also got a myspace.com/mirthfulmusic page, as cursed as it may be, it is another good marketing tool I have hardly used to my benifit.

I am currently teaching at Rob's Musicworks 4 days a week which is located in Broadview Hgts, and I am constantly refining a new system of guitar lessons, and have totally dropped any support from popular learning books because my method is complety different, and I believe with far greater results. More on this to come.

As far as new original music, it seems I've been at a halt the last year or so. I have been really hard on my playing, but there has been progress, looking back a year, I am far better. Now I just need to show you.

I have spent the last year really working on jazz, and had lost a lot of my rock like chops in the process, now I'm in the phase of re inputing these things into the system. The jazz world seems hesitant to add certain elements such as tapping and slapping, but I will be sure to get those involved as well.  To me jazz shouldn't be about rules, but what is possible.

Anyways, I am rambling, I hope what you like on this site, though much is older than my zebox account, and nothing currently new for a year, unless otherwise stated, which as of writing this is nothing. Also I am using the fretless a bit with the Stranahan trio, so if you want to see a progressive instrument with countless possibilities, come on down.

Cheers,

 Mirth

What's happening???

Hello All,

Just updating you on things that are going on.

The biggest things at the moment are:

1. I'm getting married in July, and I have wrote all the music for the wedding. It has been an interesting task, but I've actually sneaked a 12 tone piece (melody wise) for the bridal party as they enter.

2. I just finished mastering a double cd compilation of fretless guitarist, that is being released as part of www.unfretted.com . Not only did I master the cds but I have a track on there. It is a 12 tone intense bluesy piece, with some 12 tone improv. It has been sent to the UK where it will be pressed.

-There will be a cd release party in the UK, and in NYC. I will be at the NYC release party which will be at the Knitting Factory.

Date is still tentitive, but will be sometime in September. I'm hoping to get master stick player www.steveadelson.com to come down.

Possible dates at this moment are Sept 10 and 18.

These two things have kept me quite busy, and I realize I have not put much new music up lately. But that will change soon. I am planning on working more on the 12 tone improv stuff, and will hopefully become proficient at it at some point. My goal is to make it musical and almost poppy, sneaking it into the realm of the normal world.

3. I have been working on getting some guitar books done, and hopefully there will be some progress in that front. But as some of you might know, working a normal job, and working on a wedding as well as a mastering project time is very sparse.

4. Expect to have some new things on my other website as I am planning on making a page or two dedicated to my mastering and remixing studio.

If you are unhappy with your recording and would like to restore to a professional level email me at mirthsound@yahoo.com

Cheers everyone, Thanks for the lovely comments,

Mirth

About music

Just a heads up on a few things.

1. I will be the featured artist on Zebox.com starting on the 27th of this month.

2. I am working on getting a band together where I need a tight rhythm section. Including bass and drums. If you like the idea of mixing hendrix, gatton, tool, and primus togther for an exciting power trio. Please email me at tmguitar@yahoo.com Preferrably in the Akron, Canton, Cleveland area. I want to play out a lot.

3. I've got most of a book done, I just need to type it up. This is an instruction book on guitar, on the methods I teach. Which are different than the standard methods. You will never get stuck in patterns or ruts again once I show you how to move away from all that and be free to play music. My current students results are excellent.

4. If you like what you hear, please don't hesitate to let me know, or anyone else for that matter. And if you have any requests I'd love to hear them. I like to take covers from a totally different place.

5. Check out www.unfretted.com to learn more about fretless guitars and playing.

Good talking to you, more to come. I hope to be playing some solo acoustic performances in the near future.

Also, please read the music descriptions by hitting the tab music at the top of the page. There is quite a variety of music on this page. And it will be a lot easier to sort through stuff that you will enjoy, and maybe work your way up to stuff you initially thought you would not.
